A Day For Books!

I've always loved books.

Books are (usually) wonderful little portals which transport you to different worlds that you can open and shut as you please.
Well, unless you happen to become so addicted to a book that you can't put it down until you are absolutely positively sure that the book has finished.

Today was a particularly special day for book lovers and primary school children alike - World Book Day is something I took part in with enthusiasm when I was little, and if we had known that the other teachers were dressing up at placement today, I'm sure I would have taken part today as well.

Me and my sister both loved the Harry Potter series, as did many other children when the books started to invade the literary world. So, we both dressed up as Hermione Granger. Matching clothes, cape, etc., the whole palava. We even both happened to have quite bushy hair at the time too (this was around the time of the first 2/3 books and the 1st film!), so that worked.

Apart from the fact that Gemma actually wanted to be Harry.

She got face paint for the glasses the following year.

This year, one of the members of my class approached me and asked me the inevitable question: "So Miss Roberts, who are YOU dressed up as?"

As I've written a lot of long-lost short stories and things, and I'm trying to write my first full book, I decided to mention one of my own characters.
"Who's THAT?!?" exclaimed the child in exasperation.

You should have seen her face when I told her.
I've never seen a jaw drop so low.

In other news, I know I said this last time, but I'll be putting up some soundcloud stuff up soon. I've found some great music lately, and heard stories of successful and upcoming gigs, along with other exciting things! Congrats to Prefontaine on news that their gig in Nottingham went down well, and I believe there's a couple of events in York that I can look forward to soon that are music-related (more karaoke, anyone? :P)!

Should I tell you the other thing I was gonna mention?

Nah.
It's a good thing, don't worry.
But that can wait a bit longer.

*The feels.....* :3
