A Special Post!

You'll never guess what :)
Go on, guess!
Oh alright.

It's Valentine's Day soon! If you hadn't already noticed :P Decided to post early, since I'm busy on Thursday! :3

Don't worry, I'm not going to gush about having a Valentine, because I don't actually have one this year. But I always find it so sweet when I see people giving presents to each other and cards and chocolate and... *melts into a puddle of squee*

Ahem. I know some people may say "Why have a special day for it? Why not be like that all the time?" I know lots of couples who are like that all the time, and they still celebrate the lovey-dovey day. Although, I have a theory.

Some men, or even women, may struggle to share their feelings with people they like, especially if they aren't yet courting them. A Valentine's card is a great way to get those feelings to their 'love interest', if they don't have the courage to say it in person. Although the card is (mostly) anonymous, the recipient is made aware that someone feels that way towards them, and when they spot the person dropping shy and subtle hints, they can then go and check with them (then accept/reject gently as appropriate).

I've tried this before in secondary school, however it amounted to much embarrassment, as all of the recipient's friends, and my own, figured out who it was within the first 10 seconds of my 'interest' receiving the card.
Needless to say, I didn't try again until halfway through year 11, when the same thing happened again, this time with an 'anonymous' chocolate favour that I'd bought in the school dinner hall for the representatives to deliver.
Those two events were probably the most red-face-inducing incidents that ever happened to me in school.

However, in hindsight, they are now totally hilarious.

I've been getting used to being single for about a year and a half now, and although I rather like it, there's that little bit inside all of us that longs for companionship. Thankfully, God has reassured me that there is someone out there for me, although I've got to wait "just a little bit longer".
There are admittedly times when I look up and say: "GOD? CAN YOU MAKE IT SOONER?? PLEASE??!!??", but these have gradually become fewer since I've started settling in properly to uni life.

So don't worry yourselves if you don't have a Valentine this year - just remember that there will eventually be someone who will be your Valentine every year :3

Hope you're not all 'mushed out' now! Whatever your circumstance, whether it be paired or not, hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

And eat lots of chocolate...mmm...chocolate...

P.S. A very Happy Birthday to a brilliant friend of mine, Ciaran Brown! If I'm not mistaken, he's 22 today (12th Feb), so if you're reading this Ciaran, hope you are having a great day!

He's got a fantastic website that you peeps might want to check out - you may also want to have a looky at his acting roles in a music video for In Isolation (a Nottingham band) and the Shooters online TV Pilot (about 10-15 minutes in - he's the director with the red stripey shirt)!
