So yesterday (Tuesday), I had a very eventful day.
First of all, I had gymnastics. Thanks to one of my coursemates, I discovered that I can still do a shoulderstand (just)!
Next, RE. Not a bad lesson, to be honest - lots of discussion, but no debate in this one (poor George. I think he was looking forward to another "civilised argument"!).
Then, as my Dad happened to be in Leeds yesterday, he popped down to York to treat me to dinner! It was a lovely bit of Dad/Daughter time, and I got to catch up on what was happening back home. Can't wait for Easter!
But I have to say, the last part of the day was a bit of a last-minute decision for me.
My flatmates finally persuaded me to go on a night out with them.
In a club.
At the launch of "Skint", one of York's biggest student events.
Admittedly, I stayed sober (although I did have 4 glasses of Buck's Fizz before I went out, one of which was spiked with Archer's Peach Schnapps!), so it was quite entertaining to watch everyone else getting/being drunk and, more importantly, enjoying themselves!
It was also a lot of fun to see some of my coursemates there too; they actually seemed very surprised to see me - well, I haven't been on a night out like that since November! I had a great time, so no doubt I will probably end up going out with those peeps again!
We ended up going home at about 3am (which, so far, is my personal record) and we eventually went to bed at 4am(ish).
Naturally, I woke up at about 12 noon. And thankfully, I had no hangover.
But although they rolled out of bed about the same time as me, the absence of a hangover was sadly not an option for my flatmates...

A Productive Weekend...
So much for saying my post days were back to normal. Maybe I should make a big sign and put it over my desk to remind me. :P
Oh! And thanks so much, peeps - with your help, the blog hit 3000 pageviews!!! I should be putting up a YouTube Vlog post soon, so if you're on the Facebook page or subscribed to my channel, keep a lookout for it! It was a good start to the weekend!
I've actually had a 3-day weekend, because miraculously I had no lessons today. Which was rather refreshing as I got some very important stuff done :)
I also got a pretty amazing result back from my group's performing arts performance - 80 out of 100! For those who genuinely don't know, in uni standards, that's REALLY good! :D It was incredibly exciting when I received the e-mail this afternoon! (Yes, I did jump up & down & around my room, and yes, I did run up and down the corridor and babble excitedly to my flatmates about the result, but hey - it's my 1st First!)
I finally managed to get myself a railcard too, so now I can travel home a lot more than I do already, even if it's just for the weekend. I do miss Nottingham a lot, and I love to go back there when I can; it's just not being able to drive and not being able to afford a train every week (although that may be a little easier now) didn't really help things!
At least the good news is that I don't have long to wait now until I get to come home for Easter! Counting down the days!
It's not long until my birthday either.
20.
I'm going to be 20.
The kids on placement seem to think I'm ancient already.
Just think what they would make of my 94-year-old Grandma...

Back On Track!
Phew! Back to the normal posting days now :)
If you've just been on my profile, you may have noticed that one of my blogs has vanished - "Why I'm Called Katyliz". The blog is still there, however as I no longer use that blog, I am about to render it inactive. If you were wondering :)
By the time you finish reading this, as you may be the person who does this, this blog will have hit 3000 pageviews, which is absolutely incredible!
I'm going to try and post a vlog on YouTube as well to mark it - you people seem to like my blogging stuff! XD
I've not got much to write about this time, so unfortunately it's a short post today. Hopefully I'll have something more interesting for you peeps to read next time :P
Now to go to bed. I'm incredibly tired...

Eeep! Sorry Peeps!
OH, CRIKEY!!!
A whole week without writing to you peeps! I'm so sorry!
The last time I was going to write, I was gonna tell you something exciting, but then I realised telling you might've spoiled the surprise!
Want to know what I did?
...I visited Nottingham for the weekend! :3
I went on my first-ever solo train journey (swapping trains at Grantham station) in order to surprise my sister when I saw her on the Saturday! (Okay, I texted her on Saturday morning, but I still saw her in the evening!)
I didn't know that my parents would surprise me when I got there though! Not only did they take me to the garden centre I used to work at for some wonderful tea and cake and catching up with old workmates, I got to see my 18-month-old Godsister in the afternoon! And she's walking now!!! :D
You know, she doesn't actually call me "Cathy" or anything related to that anymore. She now calls me "Purple". Funny thing is, the only purple thing I was wearing that day were my shoes, and she didn't really take much notice of them. So to her, me and the colour now appear to be one. *Squee!*
I also had a great time at St. Mark's Church on Sunday - the service was fabulous and I got to catch up with a lot of people I hadn't seen in a month and a half, including a rather excitable little girl who is approaching 5 years old - as soon as she saw me, she sprinted to give me a hug! It was the same story for another cool kid, a 7-year-old this time; he made sure I was suitably glomped! Hehe!
Sorry to the Nottingham peeps that I didn't get to see - I will (hopefully) be back in Nottingham around the end of March, unless I suddenly decide to make another flying visit!
So overall, I've had a great few days - thanks for putting up with the lack of posts, peeps!
Now to go and sleep some more...

A Special Post!
You'll never guess what :)
Go on, guess!
Oh alright.
It's Valentine's Day soon! If you hadn't already noticed :P Decided to post early, since I'm busy on Thursday! :3
Don't worry, I'm not going to gush about having a Valentine, because I don't actually have one this year. But I always find it so sweet when I see people giving presents to each other and cards and chocolate and... *melts into a puddle of squee*
Ahem. I know some people may say "Why have a special day for it? Why not be like that all the time?" I know lots of couples who are like that all the time, and they still celebrate the lovey-dovey day. Although, I have a theory.
Some men, or even women, may struggle to share their feelings with people they like, especially if they aren't yet courting them. A Valentine's card is a great way to get those feelings to their 'love interest', if they don't have the courage to say it in person. Although the card is (mostly) anonymous, the recipient is made aware that someone feels that way towards them, and when they spot the person dropping shy and subtle hints, they can then go and check with them (then accept/reject gently as appropriate).
I've tried this before in secondary school, however it amounted to much embarrassment, as all of the recipient's friends, and my own, figured out who it was within the first 10 seconds of my 'interest' receiving the card.
Needless to say, I didn't try again until halfway through year 11, when the same thing happened again, this time with an 'anonymous' chocolate favour that I'd bought in the school dinner hall for the representatives to deliver.
Those two events were probably the most red-face-inducing incidents that ever happened to me in school.
However, in hindsight, they are now totally hilarious.
I've been getting used to being single for about a year and a half now, and although I rather like it, there's that little bit inside all of us that longs for companionship. Thankfully, God has reassured me that there is someone out there for me, although I've got to wait "just a little bit longer".
There are admittedly times when I look up and say: "GOD? CAN YOU MAKE IT SOONER?? PLEASE??!!??", but these have gradually become fewer since I've started settling in properly to uni life.
So don't worry yourselves if you don't have a Valentine this year - just remember that there will eventually be someone who will be your Valentine every year :3
Hope you're not all 'mushed out' now! Whatever your circumstance, whether it be paired or not, hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!
And eat lots of chocolate...mmm...chocolate...
P.S. A very Happy Birthday to a brilliant friend of mine, Ciaran Brown! If I'm not mistaken, he's 22 today (12th Feb), so if you're reading this Ciaran, hope you are having a great day!
He's got a fantastic website that you peeps might want to check out - you may also want to have a looky at his acting roles in a music video for In Isolation (a Nottingham band) and the Shooters online TV Pilot (about 10-15 minutes in - he's the director with the red stripey shirt)!

The Parents Came Up North!
As it so evidently suggests in the title, my parents came up to York today!
I've gone a month with only seeing them via skype, so it's been rather tough. I know I'm getting/need to get more independent; however, I am a mummy/daddy's girl when it comes to hugs :3
We took a trip to the National Railway Museum, taking a good look at the various trains they had on display - I took lots of photos of them, too many to put here, but I might put some of them on the Pink, Purple and Dinky Facebook group, so take a looky there if you're interested in trains somewhat :)
Here's a few:
Clue: Well, this one practically gives itself away, doesn't it?
After the museum, we took a brief trip into York - we visited the always-wonderful Yorkshire Soap Company's York shop so that I could show my parents the new cake candles they have! We also had a lovely chat with Warren, as the shop was pretty quiet from the sounds of how busy the day had been! (By the way, if you haven't seen the cake candles yet, you might want to have a look at their YouTube video and their website if you love the bubbly stuff; links are at the bottom :D)
We also paid a quick visit to Fudge Kitchen to pick up my main treat for the week - Handmade Chocolate Fudge!!! Mmmmm.... :P (See bottom of post for the website!)
I've had a wonderful day with my parents today, I'm really going to miss them - the next opportunity I'll get to see them will either be on a weekend at the end of February (or thereabouts) or when I go back for the Easter holidays at the end of March! More skype then...it'll be worth it though!
Ooh! I forgot to mention! I had my first ukulele lesson yesterday at Red Cow Music! It went really well; I learnt how to play a couple of chords, and how best to strum a basic song!
It needs re-tuning already though - I don't want to scare my neighbours...

Clue: Also the name of a duck!
Clue: Imagine a Northerner (I mean, REALLY North) with wings! This one was being renovated.

Inspire
Sorry for the long wait - got a bit caught up this week :P
Anyway, I found this on YouTube since my last post, and if you haven't already seen it, you really need to. This is so brilliant.
It was only afterwards that I found out this kid has "Brittle Bone" syndrome, and has had no less than 70 breaks since he was born. The fact that he still loves to dance and wants everyone to do the same is so inspiring.
We all have our dreams of what we want to achieve in a few days'/weeks'/months'/years' time; mine was to become a teacher, and there's so much more I want to do with that dream now I'm on my way to (hopefully!) achieving it. I was inspired by some of the teachers at my primary school in Nottingham, because they were so amazing doing what they did for an everyday job.
I came out of the school gates for the last time after collecting my SATs results in year 6, and I remember turning to my parents, telling them: "I know what I want to be now. I want to be a teacher like the teachers I had here."
To find myself at uni 9 years later training for it is beyond incredible.
I really hope I can inspire children in the future to be who they want to be, and to stick at it. Adults too - we all need a little encouragement to either get started with our dreams & ambitions, or carry on going. Even though we're not perfect, God still gives us all the opportunity to be amazing.
Let's get up, show people what we're made of, and give this world "a reason to dance"...
