The title says it all really. As my parents were away from Friday until this afternoon, I walked to work this morning. I was all up for the idea, thinking I would feel more awake for the day ahead.
At the end of the day, I couldn't have felt more tired if I tried.
Today was a day where discount stickers were missing from products (or hardly noticeable), missing barcodes were rife, and people were nearly taking alarmed baskets out of the door and setting off the sensors (much to the surprise of equally alarmed customers). And to top it all off, I have a cold and couldn't talk quite right today anyway - there were even a couple of times I had to stop and think about what I was going to say in front of customers because my brain was working too fast.
Plus, it was windy today, so the draught kept coming through the doors and making us all feel like we'd just been shoved into a giant fridge. I felt sorry for Tom (not from the garden centre, he works for a solar panel company that advertise and sell consultation appointments to passing customers) - he was standing in the porch for the vast majority of the afternoon, though he did come in to keep warm, have a quick chat, talk to a few of the customers and grab the odd cup of tea to take back into the porch with him. Sensible person :)
I did have a lovely day though, despite having aches in my ankles and problems with the tills! I got to see a little girl who's in the class I help on a Tuesday morning at a primary school near where I live, plus I got to see one of my old supply teachers whom I haven't seen for about 6 or 7 years!! Plus my collegues constantly kept me entertained, mainly with tales of nights out or acts of general sillyness! :D
So overall, I've had a pretty good day! Now to focus on getting my singing voice better for tomorrow morning - I'm supposed to be singing as part of my church's band, so we'll see how that goes, and of course, I'll keep you updated! :D
You know what? I can't be bothered to get the first post every time. From now on, I'll only comment when I have something to say. Laziness has won.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I didn't think it would last very long :P
