I've successfully moved into my new home in York! It's a lovely place and much bigger and better than my previous residences! It's a bit further away from work (well, 25 mins walk!) but it's well worth it.
Since there's a lot of bad news about people in the news today (26th July 2014), I just wanted to say some 'thank you's today to lighten the mood :)
First of all, a great big THANK YOU to you peeps for helping the blog reach 7500 pageviews - and counting!! Sorry I haven't had much time to record the podcasts, but I will be working on them once I'm back into the swing of things :) I'm also in the process of planning my next vlog, so keep tuned into Twitter and Facebook for updates!
Secondly, I would like to say a massive thanks to my family, boyfriend, friends and colleagues who have been wonderful during my move, whether you were helping me physically or supporting me from elsewhere! *hugs*
Thirdly, I would like to thank the wonderful dentist who I encountered walking down Aldwark in York the day before I moved house properly. I was walking down the road with a TON of heavy things (I thought it would be a good idea to get at least some of my things to my new house early. Silly me :P) and she stopped, asked if I was okay, and then offered to carry one of my excruciatingly heavy bags!
She carried it all the way to York St John, where she then asked if I would be okay from there. I gave her a hug to say thanks - it was the very least I could do!
I think her name was Dr Julie, but sadly it's been a couple of weeks so I can't remember. If you happen to know someone by that name who helped a girl with her bags three weeks ago (ish) in York, let me know!
Another huge thank you I want to give is to the fantastic lady who was stood behind me in the queue at Morrisons two days ago (24th July). I mentioned to the cashier that I needed two 'bags for life' because my house was 20 minutes away and I had no car (I can't drive yet - but that's a story for a different time). The lady behind me (who happened to be a student) then proceeded to offer me a lift all the way to my road!!
I'd like to note here that I would not usually accept a lift off a stranger (kids - if you're reading this, DON'T DO IT), however I did have a little pray to myself: "Lord, if this is definitely the wrong thing to do, let me know NOW!". Nothing out of the ordinary happened, so I accepted the lift, chatting animatedly to her about university life, horse-riding (something I don't do but my housemate does) and other random topics.
Soon enough we pulled up at the end of my road and she dropped me off, not even asking for petrol money, with me thanking her profusely, and she drove off with a wave!
As I walked down my road, I was actually very thankful I had the lift - the bags were incredibly difficult to carry and I don't think I would have managed the whole way by myself.
Steph, if you happen to be reading this, THANK YOU and I owe you a cake!
So over the past few weeks, I have been helped by a lot of people - those who have been unexpected in their support, and those who have always been there for me :)
Human beings can be so wonderful sometimes :3
