As all of us Brits (and probably the vast majority of everyone else for that matter) will know, this bank holiday weekend (actually bank holiday Tuesday, but we like stretching events out) is the Queen's Diamond Jubilee! So a lot of people are having a lot of parties to celebrate, unsurprisingly.
I'm writing this before heading off to work - well, I say work when I mean "heading off to help run a children's party". Yup, my place of work is no exception! Plus, we get PROPER party food (e.g. cocktail sausages, cheese sticks, pizza, crisps, biscuits, cake and the like), which the kids will love, especially as the snacks they usually get are considered boring.
My other place of work is also having a party on the day of the Jubilee itself, so I'll be working at a till whilst everyone else is munching away on party food! Hopefully my parents'll be able to save me some.... :3
I suppose the best thing about all of this is that there's an inset day tomorrow, so no work!! I'll probably be helping around the house, but maybe I can catch up on a little bit of sleep that I lost earlier this week (my sleeping patterns have gone haywire recently, and I have no idea why)!
And the worst thing?
It's raining.
Again.
Never mind, I'll just have to use my awesome pinky-purple spotty umbrella! :D

Not a cloud in the sky...
So a couple of posts back I wrote about the fact Britain was getting a deluge of rain and coldness.
Well, good news! Britain has finally seen sunshine!
Yes, I know, it's almost unbelievable, but, as the title says, there are literally NO CLOUDS AT ALL where I am :) Only sunshine, a slight breeze and the never-ending possibility of me burning unless I put on masses of suncream. Not that I'm complaining of course, I love the sun regardless of how red I am at the end of the day :)
What's more, this weather is ice-cream weather - brilliant if you're sitting outside with one, not so good when you're escorting loads of children to another school and away from the ice-cream van that they seem to be mildly magnetised towards. To be honest, I don't blame them. I love the stuff!
I think the best things about summer, though, are barbecues and water fights. Barbecues are great for get-togethers, and when everyone's eaten too much and they need to cool off, a water fight is great for working off the burgers. Then you can put the calories back on again by having an ice-cream :3
Better go make the most of this sunshine! Now where's my water pistol?....

The Importance Of Being Random
Imagine the scene. I'm at a student small group, I've just finished doing the spiritual stuff with them and I'm playing table football (which I'm not usually good at) with a couple of mates - plus, my team (me and another girl) are winning against a team of 2 boys.
Now imagine that I suddenly spot another two members of my home group shuffling across the room straddled on a 2-seater rolling bench, and halfway across the room they burst into fits of giggles.
As I'm doubled over laughing, one of my opponents says to me "That's right Catherine, keep looking at them and laughing!", moments before my team score another goal against them.
At which, my opponent starts jumping up and down in mock frustration, then grins widely as we continue the match.
I'm so glad they're a lot like me - it completely made my day :)

Limbo
"Limbo? Really? Have you taken up gymnastics?"
No, I haven't taken up gymnastics. I'm not that flexible anymore!
I'm sort of at that age where you could describe me as being a "student". But I'm not a student (yet), because I'm not in education at the minute. I'll need to retake my GCSE maths at a college near me this year, but next year, I will definitely be going to uni to be a "student", regardless of whether I pass or fail this course. That's if they'll accept me into uni with my current grades from A-levels and the like. (Those from the USA, or other countries for that matter, the British education system is a lot different to yours, as far as I know. We all call the different stages different things, so it gets confusing :P)
Therefore, as I'm stuck between being a student/not being a student, I am in "limbo". But I'm working on it :)
In other news, I finished my knitted scarf! It's purple and very very long, but not quite dragging on the floor (though I'm sure when those kids that I work with get their mitts on it, I may well be tripping over it)! I'm going to be knitting a bag soon with some of the wool I got for Christmas. The colour? You guessed it..........pink and purple! :D
Speaking of studenty-stuff, I'm going to a student ball soon! Fancy dresses and the like! :D Really looking forward to it, I've got my fancy dress and everything! PLUS there's gonna be laser-tag/laser-quest/running-around-with-light-firing-guns, so I get to run around in my dress and tag everyone with well-placed laser shots! :3 I can't wait!!
I just have to get better from this long-standing cold first.... >.<
